FEES FOR SERVICE
Schools: $500 for the day, $300 for a half day. In some cases, accommodations may be necessary and would be an appreciated amenity. I prefer to work with small groups and will give up to 5 performances a day. I will be ready to go when your students arrive. They will have the opportunity to view and touch real and replicated artifacts, furs trade goods and clothing. A three minute DVD of my nature photography set to original music is also available to set the mood. I provide my own sound equipment and will share activities with teachers upon request. As a courtesy to Brother Canada, all fees quoted to Canadian interests are in Canadian dollars.
Presentation: I appear in full voyager regalia. The story is presented in the "first person," with the main character telling the story of a newly-arrived orphan to North America, who is an indentured servant working in the fur trade. Regional stories, songs and dances are incorporated into the presentation to reinforce your local social studies benchmarks and objectives .
Museums, Festivals and Community Events: $250 for each formal performance (see Sample Program for more details) lasting 45-60 minutes. Price breaks will be made for additional performances throughout the day, depending upon the individual requests of the hosting agency.
Informal Performances are those that usually find me around a campfire or in an encampment throughout the day. In this case. I tell stories, make and play games for children (which they can take with them), sing voyageur songs or simply inform passerby who have questions. The fee for this service is $300 for the day plus an accommodation if necessary. Either way, your patrons will be entertained and can walk away with a fond memory! I am willing to adjust my prices to accommodate special circumstances or special interests. Now that's a good trade!
Libraries, Parks and Recreation Departments and Boy/Girl Scout Troupes: Local libraries, scouts and civic organizations like Parks and Precreation Departments have limited budgets. These organizations benefit the community, neighborhoods and children at little or no cost to the participants. In this case, my fee for service is $150 for a 45 minute show. The Creator teaches us that laughter and knowledge is strong medicine that unites our community.
LeCompagnie: $850-$1260, depending on travel time, length of performance and number of performers.
Trois Buffons: $450, plus additional fees for dancers.
Credentials: I have performed throughout Michigan, in Ohio, New York, Kentucky, Indiana and parts of Ontario. I am a public school teacher, musician, dancer and a published free-lance writer. I also enjoy traveling, nature photography and horseback riding. I have taken workshops in voice, text and movement at the Stratford Festival Theater's Education Dept, Stratford, Ontario. I hold a B.A. in Communcation Arts and English Literature, with a minor in Linguistics, a Master's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology.
